Newly Launched Vandal Proof Bollard Lights

UK’s First Vandal Proof Bollard Lights

Specialist LED lighting company, Procure Direct, has launched the UK’s first range of vandal proof solar bollards, designed to provide durable, energy-efficient lighting in public spaces. These innovative solar bollards serve as both a physical barrier and a reliable lighting solution, making them ideal for local authorities, hospitals, schools, and residential developments.

Designed specifically for UK weather conditions, the two models PD-VDL-001 and PD-VDL-001B offer the same functionality as traditional bollards but with the added benefit of powerful 560-lumen LEDs. Equipped with an in-built motion detector, the solar lights automatically brighten when pedestrians or vehicles approach within four meters, providing effective illumination while conserving energy.

Built to withstand extreme conditions, both models hold an IEC/BS EN 60598-1 impact rating of IK10++, far exceeding standard durability requirements. For reference, the IK scale ranges from IK1, which can resist the impact of a small object falling from a short height, to IK10, which can endure the equivalent of a patio gas canister dropped from 400mm. The PD-VDL-001 model is also fully waterproof with an IP68 rating, making it suitable for flood-prone areas.

With no electricity consumption, trenching or cabling required during installation, Procure Direct’s managing director, Spencer Coffin, expects the new products to be extremely popular.

“These new solar bollards are incredibly strong and have proven to be practically indestructible,” says Spencer. “There is nothing like this available in the UK at the moment, and we think, with prices starting at just £250 per bollard, with bulk discounts available, they’ll be incredibly popular. We’ve worked hard to ensure that they will work perfectly in the UK all year round. They need just six hours of daylight to charge fully, which will power four days of light power.”

Procure Direct backs these products with a five-year warranty on parts and operation, along with a three-year battery warranty, ensuring long-term reliability.

The PD-VDL-001 model is available in two height options: 45cm and 80cm. The direct-buried PD-VDL-001B comes in 65cm and 1m versions. These new additions complement our existing range of solar bollard lights, which deliver between 250 and 500 lumens and are commonly installed in car parks, footpaths, and outdoor retail areas.

Established in 2005, Procure Direct has been at the forefront of LED lighting solutions, serving both private and public sector clients. Over the past 15 years, the company has worked with major clients such as Lincolnshire County Council, NPower, Mitie, Kier, and more than 60 schools.
