A UK-based solar lighting specialist, Procure Direct, has just introduced an innovative addition to its lighting solutions. The Path Master, a solar powered bollard created with dark-sky supporters in mind. Designed specifically to reduce light pollution, these solar bollard lights direct all light downwards. Making them ideal for settings where minimising upward light emissions is essential.
The Path Master is part of Procure Direct’s INVO solar lighting range, bringing a combination of thoughtful design and modern functionality to outdoor spaces that prioritise sustainability. Powered by a solar battery, this motion-sensing solar bollard light delivers reliable lighting without the need for an electrical source. Making them perfect for remote locations or energy-conscious applications. The fixture is made from durable aluminium, with an impressive output of 2,000 lumens. It also covers an eight-meter diameter of light with its 160-degree sensing angle. Its flexibility also allows for light to be emitted from either one or both sides of the solar bollard.
Procure Direct has designed the Path Master to work on a variety of surfaces, whether installed on concrete or directly on the grass. Which broadens its applications for both urban and rural areas. Our solar bollard lights offer two lighting modes to suit different needs. In sensor mode, the solar bollard shines at full brightness when movement is detected, then reduces to 15% brightness shortly after. In constant light mode, it automatically activates at dusk, holding a steady 50% brightness until dawn. This versatility means the Path Master can adapt to various outdoor environments, from busy pedestrian pathways to quieter, wildlife-sensitive areas.
“We believe this new bollard is a real game-changer,” says Spencer Coffin, director of Procure Direct. “Over the years, we have been asked repeatedly if we can provide an easy to install, solar-powered LED bollard that offers excellent lighting without impacting on the area above it. Developing the Path Master has taken several years and considerable investment, but we’ve done it, and we’re really pleased with the end product. I think it will be very popular with rural sites, such as forest and woodland car parks, where rare wildlife is found and in residential areas where developers want to minimise light pollution. Hopefully, the Path Master will fit the needs of people keen to embrace the aims of the dark-sky movement. Not only this but as the light is projected to the ground we believe that it will be very beneficial to bats as again no light goes up.”
The dark-sky movement aims to reduce light pollution, helping communities enjoy more visible night skies while also supporting the health and safety of humans and wildlife. Reducing unnecessary lighting also lowers energy costs, contributing to sustainability goals. With a five-year warranty, the Path Master boasts an IP65 waterproof rating and IK8 impact resistance, promising durability and performance with a lifespan of up to 20 years.
